Designed by Wu Dak, this neo-classical building not only gave birth to the new edition of "Thesaurus", but also witnessed a century of multiculturalism in Shanghai.
Drawing inspiration from the ancient Egyptian temple of Hatshepsut to create living spaces of architectural beauty, all the way to the intersection of modernism and minimalist design, many classics guide our exploration.
In the early days of space design, the ideas and works of LeCorbusier and Donald Judd inspired us to focus on the aesthetic vitality of proportion and scale. The ideas and works of LeCorbusier and Donald Judd inspired us to focus on the aesthetic vitality of proportion and scale. LeCorbusier's concept of "modality" optimized the architectural design and spatial layout, making this not only an exhibition and living space, but also a place full of emotions and memories.
For the structural renovation of the old building, we followed the concept of "sustainability" by removing six frame beams from the original space and reinforcing and repairing the entire structure and roof of the building. In order to preserve the unique memory and value of the old building, some of the beams were kept in their original form to give a sense of authenticity, engraving the traces of time between the new materials and the old objects.
