TRNK debuts their 2020 collection of furniture, rich with texture, colour, and sculptural forms. For the first time since launching in 2017, the NYC-based design studio, online retailer, and curatorial platform expands into a new product category with a line of travertine tables, sourced and produced in collaboration with skilled craftsmen in Portugal. Much like the brand’s upholstered seating collection, the new table series combines TRNK’s appreciation for elegant, yet practical design updated with understated, contemporary details.

Additionally, the fall collection welcomes the ‘Segment Series’ and ‘Angle II Series’ – daybeds, chaise lounges, benches, armchairs, dining chairs, and sofas wrapped in lustrous, jewel-toned performance velvets.

Simple, geometric planes combine in unexpected ways to create sculptural but functional forms within the ‘Segment Series.’

“The process for designing the Segment Series was reductive. I asked, how can we simplify these forms to make dense materials like solid stone or chunky upholstery feel a bit lighter?,” says TRNK Founder, Tariq Dixon. “That’s how the small gaps between adjoining slabs, which now define the collection, came about. I also considered how light interacts with the product, allowing the occasional ray to peer through the slivers of negative space.”

The seating series includes a sofa, an armchair, a high-back dining chair, a chaise lounge and a daybed, expertly produced in Southern California using high-density foam seat cushions, CAD-engineered plywood frames, and commercial-grade suspension systems.

Crafted in Portugal from raw, solid travertine and brushed brass, the sleek and minimalist tables series includes a coffee table, a side table, and a dining table.

The ‘Angle II Series’ is among the brand’s most striking, yet comfortable and small-space friendly. It takes simple silhouettes and updates them with cutouts for negative visual space.
