Over 15 years of operation, Sculptform has evolved to meet the changing needs of designers and specifiers through manufacture and installation of modular wall, ceiling and facade systems. With teams in Bendigo, Melbourne, Sydney and Christchurch and a global suite of completed projects, Sculptform continues to grow and help push the boundaries of design by turning creative concepts into tangible architectural solutions.

The opening of their studio in the Melbourne CBD signifies the next step in the Sculptform journey and an opportunity for closer relationships with the design community they proudly support.

Designed by Woods Bagot as a style guide to the entire business, the showroom reflects Sculptform company values and amplifies what they’re known for in the design industry.

Much of the arresting scheme is on show from the street, with views into the space crowned by a magnificent, sculptural timber ceiling crafted by Sculptform manufacturers. In addition to being awe-inspiring, the circulation path leads the visitors on the journey of sculptural and spatial formation. A physical loop around the business and its processes, the showroom accommodates a social space and events auditorium, a digital gallery, meeting rooms and work areas. At the heart of it all is the Co-Lab, a workshop and creativity incubator with broad sweeping visual engagement to the rest of the studio.

With its entire manufacturing facility in Bendigo, putting the business on display in the CBD studio showroom is a new venture for Sculptform, which managing director Jeremy Napier describes as a logical next step.

“We’re a creative enterprise building a reputation and a product range beyond our timber origins,” said Napier. “It makes sense to be physically closer to industry groups, other manufacturers, and architectural collaborators, many of whom have a presence in or close to the city.”

Napier and his team have opened the showroom as an event space that engages with diverse industry sectors and the design community through various events. “The amphitheatre arrangement will be where ideas cross-pollinate from within and beyond our studio,” he said.

Instrumental in the award-winning design of Woods Bagot’s Melbourne studio, principal and design leader Bruno Mendes understands the need for a creative firm’s home to speak volumes about its values.

“While the nature and scale of our businesses are different, Woods Bagot and Sculptform share an intent for a culture that’s about collaboration and co-creation, and engaged with the city,” said Mendes.

Mendes calls the design concept for the showroom an homage to curiosity. “In celebrating the Sculptform process, the journey is designed to be an intriguing and engaging one,” he says. “The products and the process are the heroes, and what visitors will experience is a physical connection to Sculptform’s work – something that can’t be found online.”

With COVID-19 restrictions finally beginning to ease in Victoria, Sulptform is extending an open invitation to design professionals to book a time with one of their team members who can assist with project enquiries, or to schedule a tour of the CBD studio.
