Raise your hand if every surface and chair in your home can now be considered part of your at-home workspace. While it’s easy enough to move from sofa to desk to the dining room table, there’s also something to making a concerted effort to design or reconfigure a space for actual productivity without just adding a stodgy office chair into the mix. When we came across the newly updated space of the Almost 30 podcast HQ, we knew we had to take notes. This is how you make your home into a fun office space.
A consistent decorating theme in the space is using bold, colorful wallpaper to demarcate the different zones. Here, the desk corner gets a cheerful update with a Hygge & West pattern.

Artist and interior designer Dani Nagel was recruited by the Los Angeles–based best friends and podcast hosts, Krista Williams and Lindsey Simcik, to create an office space that was both playful and elevated. And since the HQ would be situated in Lindsey’s house, it needed to remain livable and functional, too. “I love working alongside other young entrepreneurs that understand the old-school office is gone, ushering in a new era of working comfortably in spaces that inspire,” says Dani. “Our work and personal lives are becoming more intertwined and naturally it makes sense that this will happen to our physical workplaces as well.”
This section of the space, marked by the metallic gold motif wallpaper, is all things podcasting. The pink swivel chairs are perfect for long hours of recording.

Dani mixed in meaningful and personal pieces including original paintings she created for the space as well as new and old furniture finds. “Since my partner and I work from our home full-time, I knew what little hacks help us be our most productive,” says Dani. “We found we ended up spending most of our time at the dining room table, despite each having our own home offices and desks, so finding a solid table that can comfortably host you and all your work accessories is key.”
“Lindsey and Krista were very strategic about the space being accommodating for both work and day-to-day living,” says Dani. “We designed this to be an oasis they and their podcast guests can record in and also create content to help promote.” A daybed is a perfect item for relaxing and changing up your position.
If you’re going to work from your dining room table, why not make it fabulous? “This beautiful marble and brass piece for the Almost 30 HQ and Joybird chairs to match were perfect to have their team come together and get ish done all day,” says Dani, who found the unique table on Offer Up for only $150.
Another great hack Dani recommends is having a few different places you can migrate to throughout the day to keep yourself inspired and change your posture. “We chose to have six different areas in their kitchen/dining room alone so that the girls and their team can switch up seating and perspective throughout the day,” she says. This includes the bar stools, desk area by kitchen, large cozy couch, the dining table, a Moroccan bench area, and a daybed with an ottoman. Talk about choices!
“We really considered how we can build an office that would blend in seamlessly with the bright brand visuals they had become known for. As a young entrepreneur myself I know how important content creation can be, as well as making it as easy as possible,” says Dani. “The Almost 30 HQ fits their feed perfectly and feels ‘on brand’ in every way.”
