Sheraton Deva Resort & Spa, New Caledonia
[CHADA] was commissioned in 2009 to begin work on the interiors for this Melanesian inspired resort hotel set on the Pacific Ocean edge of the 4000 hectare Deva game reserve located 2 hour’s drive north of Noumea. The resort includes 60 ‘Kanak’ style 75m2 luxury fares/bungalows and 120 rooms in 2-storey timber shingle roofed accommodation blocks supported by an 18-hole international golf course planned to be opened in late 2014.
The resorts Melanesian inspired architecture features a 15 meter high thatch roofed open plan central building which includes reception, retail, Sheraton Link, a lobby lounge, sunken fireplace lounge and lobby bar all connected to the All Day Dining with terrace. Ballroom and meeting facilities are located on an open mezzanine floor overlooking the Restaurant and pool. A beach BBQ sits beside the 750m2 resort pool directly adjoining the resorts 13 K long beach.
The resort was designed by Pierre Lacombe, Tropical Architecture, Tahiti and opened in August 2014.
