French architectural firm Planet Studio sent us photos and information of the Labahou project, a paper mill the architects converted into a contemporary loft on a budget of €100,000. The 1,830 square foot residence is located in Anduze, a small city in the Gard department in southern France. The traditional typology of the Gard region, where the project is located, is the Cevennes farmhouse.Therefore, the new project reflects this heritage, while responding to the contemporary living needs of the inhabitants. At the same time, the place is meant to help “people with spiritual problems, moral and material.”
The rustic design is truly charming, with wood being employed extensively throughout. The mezzanine and large living room with bay window are the focal points of the dwelling. Outside, there is a semi-covered patio and a garden that was reworked in the style of Mediterranean gardens. A water source was discovered during construction, which allowed for a fountain, thus adding the missing element needed to enjoy the beautiful days offered by this idyllic setting.
