1、积极的人生态度
设计师比谁都应具有积极的人生态度，坦然地面对成就及挫折与失败。因挫折而消沉的人很难获得成功，视失败为宝贵经验积极总结，愈挫愈勇地向成功目标挑战的品质才是一个优秀设计师应具备的
2、持久力
对一些有发展潜力的客户多次反复拜访也是达成目标的手段之一。我们能在每次拜访中不断获得客户的真实需求，然后有针对性的接待再访，一定能减轻对方的排斥心理，有耐心的接待三四次，或许客户已在盘算与你合作了。因此，为了避免功败垂成培养持久力是非常重要的。
3，智力，对一个设计师来说是至关重要的，智力是我们对客户的疑问作出快速反映的基础，也是我们采取巧妙、恰当的应对方法的基础。
4、圆滑的态度
一个优秀的设计师不止是辩论家，而且是一位能推心置腹的探求出客户需求，并加以恰当应对的高手。
在与客户交谈中，我们是希望对方了解我们的观点，告诉客户我们了解他的需求，并能够给予满足。并不是希望客户赞同我们的观点，最后不与我们合作。所以圆滑的态度是必须的，我们提倡绝不是没有原则的一味顺从客户并与客户较真，而是基于对客户了解，尊重的基础上顾全大局的处事方法。基础是尊重，真实而非虚伪的。
5、可信性
在供大于求的市场状况下，设计师常常面临客户左右徘徊的两可局面。对客户而言，若要其接受一家新的公司或是该公司市场知名度，这就要求设计师能够从各方面配合并发挥专长。最重要的就是让客户乐于接受一个设计师是对他的信任，要求设计师必须要有令客户信任的行动，双方之间不仅只是暂时的交易关系。这样才能使客户乐于为你做活广告，带来更多的回头客源。
6、善解人意
口若悬河的人不一定能成为优秀室内设计师，因为这样的人往往沉醉于自己的辩才与思想中，而忽略了客户的真实需求，优秀的设计师会不断探询客户的需求，以细腻的感受力和同情心，判断客户的真实需求并加以满足最终成交。
7、想象力优秀的设计师还应具备描述公司前景的能力，富于想象力的陈述，不仅能消除户的排斥心理，还能给自己带来满足感和自信心，增强说服力促进交易的成功。
