There’s usually not a lot of greenery in city apartments and urban areas in general so the fact that this place feels so close to nature comes as a surprise. The apartment is located in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine and was designed by SVOYA Studio.
It features an eclectic style, with a mix of vintage and modern interior design elements. But the most interesting and eye-catching element of all is the trio of vertical gardens placed in between the windows in the main living area.
The open plan which also includes the kitchen and the dining area offers panoramic views of the Dnipro River and the designers wanted to highlight this detail by introducing those vertical gardens. And what better place for them than the nooks between the windows so that the indoor-outdoor connection becomes even stronger?
The wall opposite to the gardens features horizontal wooden boards from floor to ceiling so there’s also a subtle contrast there quickly overpowered by the harmony created by the multitude of natural elements.
To keep the focus on the greenery and the views, the interior design is simple. The kitchen occupies one wall and features a series of open shelves and cabinets completed by a minimalist island with a bar extension.
The sitting area is defined by a chevron-patterned area rug and a pair of coffee tables with wood slice tops. An oversized floor lamp fills the empty corner behind the sofa.
In between the kitchen and sitting area is a dining table, very sleek and very simple, positioned towards the middle of the room to get the best views.
A long hallway separates the social area from the rest of the rooms. From there, you can reach the master bedroom, characterized by austere and simple décor with a little bit of industrial charm. This is also where the owners showcased part of their contemporary art. A large painting is casually leaning against the wall.
A second bedroom was designed with a whitewashed brick wall and a combination of pink and gray accents which turns out to be really nicely balanced.
