This elegant new construction is a 91,000 sq ft (8500 sqm) villa on Palm Jumeirah — an artificial archipelago of reclaimed land in the Palm Islands of Dubai — with interior design by Antoni Associates. The designers indicate that the interior scheme “…delicately blends classical and contemporary architecture…and incorporate the clients’ sophisticated style with the use of color.” When furnishings need to be background only, they are: a spacious movie room which has theater-style seating in pure white. On the other hand, when a classic touch will lend a special extra panache, the designers don’t hesitate: witness the ornate crystal chandeliers over the formal dining table and the elegant living room. And, true to the design promise, a wide color spectrum plays a crucial role in this modern setting.
Set against sand-colored walls, light wood grain, and creamy white, are intricate Oriental style rugs of blue and red, bright yellow, and spring green. Bedding and upholstery hold a cascade of blues, from pastel to indigo. The art on the walls is both bright and traditional — a cluster of floral prints framed in gold on one wall, seascapes filling the wall of a master bed-sitting suite and complementing a richly furnished purple-and-sand-colored salon. Even the light fixtures dip into the color pool: a rich blue not only highlights one bedroom wall, but is also echoed in the chandelier above it…and, likewise in the salon, whose chandelier sports “arms” of rich plum. Everywhere you look in this magnificent home you’ll see color — surrounded by the panorama of sea and sky outside, which caps off the generous palette within.
