applications
The aforementioned research group is currently composed by:
Giovanni Plizzari,Full professor of structural engineering;
Fausto Minelli,PhD,Assistant professor of structural engineering;
Giuseppe Tiberti,PhD,Assistant professor of structural engineering
>Furthermore,several PhD Students as well as PhD Fellows are involved
in the overall activities of the group
It is worthwhile noticing that the research developed concerning Fiber
Reinforced Concretes(FRCs)in the last two decades by prof.Plizzari and his
group was an important contribution to specific rules and recommendations
currently present in the section devoted to design of FRC structures in the
new Model Code 2010

Contents
Among the innovative materials under investigation this presentation will be
focused on FRC
Part 1:Introduction on FRC
Part 2:Examples concerning the research on-going at the University of
Brescia on FRC by means of experimental investigation as well as by means
of numerical simulation carried out by means of DIANA
Part 3:Main concepts regarding the necessary procedure for including
fibrous reinforcement contribution in the crack models currently implemented
in DIANA
Part 4:Numerical simulations of precast tunnel lining under the severe loads
applied by Tunnel Boring Machines(TBMs)during the excavation process
